This tasty yogurt Summer snack is great for when you have a sweet craving! In this post we will cover why dairy is an important part of our diets and our ability to stay active.
Bones Keep Us Moving and Eating
Have you ever imagined what it would be like to have no bones? It’s an odd thing to imagine, but let’s ask ourselves some questions…
What would happen if you tried to jump and you had no bones, or what would happen if you wanted to walk, or even run? What would happen if you wanted to bite into a juicy apple? Or munch on a carrot?
We wouldn’t be able to do any of those things! Our bones give our bodies structure and stability, and without bones our bodies wouldn’t move properly. The health of our teeth is also important because if we have healthy teeth, we can eat a wide range of foods with different textures!

Keeping Our Bones Healthy
Calcium is the nutrient found in dairy products that helps keep our bones and teeth strong and healthy.
Dairy products that contain beneficial amounts of calcium include:
- Milk
- Yogurt
- Calcium fortified soy milk
- Cheeses (hard cheeses, cottage cheese, queso fresco, etc)

Exercise is also an important factor to consider when trying to keep bones healthy. When we are active it helps maintain and strengthen our bones.

Recipe
This recipe features one of my favorite calcium-containing ingredients, Greek yogurt. This recipe is easily adaptable and can be customized to fit your taste preferences! I used fruits such as strawberry, mango, banana, kiwi, blueberry and blackberry, but this recipe can be made with nearly any kind of fruit. Enjoy!
