This healthier spin on a classic will have your mouth watering!
The Philly cheesesteak sandwich is a favorite of many. If you haven’t tried it before, it can be described as a meat and cheese filled sandwich, topped onions and bell peppers for those that like veggies.
Sounds delicious? Yes, it is. I find the only downside of this sandwich to be its nutrition facts… But this recipe is here to fix that!

Traditionally the Philly cheesesteak sandwich is loaded with shredded beef and American cheese stuffed on a white bun. Today’s recipe includes low fat cheese, whole wheat bread, lean ground beef (to reduce cost and increase health benefits), and lots of veggies.
The veggies featured in today’s recipe are green bell pepper and white onion, but you can experiment with others if desired! Other vegetable variations could be colored bell peppers, red onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, etc.
When I tried this version I can confidently say I like this healthier recipe just as much as the original. I learned that even my favorite comfort food recipes can be modified with healthier ingredients, and I’ll still love them. I hope you get to have the same experience when you try this recipe!
