Tip of the Week: Fun Shapes Taste Better // Christmas Tree Avocado Toast

Let’s face it, fun food just tastes better, even when you’re a grown up. What are some easy ways to Create fun food? It can be as easy as arranging parts of a meal in a fun way, like silly faces from fruit on pancakes, or stacking slices of banana inside a strawberry to make Santa faces. Grinches can be made with green grapes, banana slices, and little strawberry or raspberry hats by threading them strategically onto skewers. There are no rules so create what makes you happy!

Whole grain toast with “stuff on top” is a family favorite at many houses, and today we made fun toast by cutting it into tree shapes! Then we added smashed avocado and the tiny humans got to choose what toppings to decorate their tree with. A tiny cookie cutter let us make cheese “lights” and a cheese star for the top of the tree. One tree got rainbow sprinkles, which aren’t usually served with fresh avocado, but it seemed to taste just fine, and the other was topped with onions, cheese, and an everything bagel seasoning mix.

What kind of stuff can you put on top of avocado toast? (Anything you want!)

  • Scrambled eggs and salsa or hot sauce
  • Blueberries, walnuts, and goat cheese
  • Cherry tomatoes and fresh basil
  • Sauteed mushrooms
  • Sliced mango and a drizzle of honey
  • The list goes on and on…..
