What fruit is in season in the winter?

Oranges!
(and all the other citrus fruits)
It is cold and snowing in some parts of the country, but the coastal citrus groves (and a few in Arizona) have been sunny and warm all summer so they grew a whole bunch of fruits for us to enjoy! Oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruits are all in season in winter, and a great way to add flavor to your meals.
Oranges taste great and have a bunch of healthy stuff in them:
- No fat or sodium.
- 3 grams of fiber.
- 1 gram of protein.
- 14 micrograms of vitamin A.
- 70 milligrams of vitamin C.
- Orange juice is also usually fortified with vitamin D and vitamin C for extra benefits.
Try out this yummy chicken recipe, served over rice with veggies, to add oranges to your family’s dinnertime.
