Did you know wintertime is the best time for fruits like oranges and pomegranates to grow? That might seem pretty crazy since fruits and vegetables don’t grow well in Utah during the winter, but it’s true! Places with warmer climates, like Florida, Arizona, and California, grow fruit that thrives in the winter. Let’s learn more!

Some of the fruits you may notice being in season around this time of year include…
oranges/clementines, avocados, pomegranates, and pineapple!!

These tropical fruits are full of vitamins and minerals that keep you healthy and strong through the winter! Eating just one orange or one serving of pineapple will give you all of the vitamin C you need in a day! Vitamin C protects your cells from being damaged and heals your cells when you get hurt. Vitamin C also strengthens your immune system. This helps your body fight off sickness!
Pomegranates are a good source of vitamin K. Vitamin K helps your blood flow throughout your body and strengthens your bones. And last but not least, avocados are full of potassium! Potassium helps your kidneys and heart work properly.

Now that we’ve learned all about these winter fruits, we need to know how to eat them! Here are a few of our favorite recipes that you should try this year.
Happy creating!
