It’s October! And that means Halloween is just around the corner. This month we’ll bring you tips and tricks to make your Halloween delicious and healthy!
The first recipe we’ll make is Mummy Pizza. These make a perfect lunch, snack, or dinner!

To make a Mummy Pizza, we’ll need a bagel, English muffin, or slice of bread. We’ll also need some tomato sauce, olives, and a cheese stick! Mummy Pizzas are a perfect way to get a balanced meal since they include 3 different food groups. Can you pick out which food groups we are using?
If you guessed grains, dairy, and vegetables, you are correct!

For this meal, the bagel acts as our grain, the cheese stick as our dairy, and the tomato sauce + olives as our vegetable. Good work!

First, slice the bagel in half and lay on a baking sheet. Piece smaller strips of string cheese and set aside for later. Using a spoon, spread the tomato sauce around the bagel. Place two olives at the top of the bagel to create mummy eyes. Next, lay string cheese strips crisscross across the bagel to create a “wrapped” mummy look.

Now your mummies are ready to cook! In a preheated oven (450 degrees F), place the baking sheet with the mummies. Let cook for 8-10 minutes, or until cheese is warm and toasted. You want the cheese to be slightly melted, but still keep its form.

Wait for the pizza to cool for 5 minutes. Now it should be ready to eat! Enjoy!

This looks awesome and is perfect for kids. I actually did a loaded quesadilla this way too, but I think this looks much easier (considering flipping the quesadilla). Thanks for the idea!
