Berry Banana Split

Feeling patriotic? This berry delicious banana split is perfect for those patriotic vibes!

The banana split is an all-american dessert. Wilmington, Ohio claims to be the birthplace of the banana split – it’s inventor being Ernest Hazard in 1907. The town even holds a banana split festival every June to celebrate (sounds fun to me!). Latrobe, Pennsylvania, however, argues that in 1904, their citizen David Strickler invented the banana split. The towns have agreed to disagree. 🙂

Many types of berries are in season, which means they’re super delicious and should be eaten! You can use whatever berries you have on hand for this recipe. Frozen berries can also be used, just let them thaw a little bit before eating.

For this recipe you’ll need a banana, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, yogurt, and granola (optional).bb1f9e34d6090aff663f76411a494cda.jpeg

Start by splitting the banana and placing it in a bowl. Spoon yogurt over the banana.

Now sprinkle all the berries over the top.

Complete your banana split with a little whipped cream!

The original banana split was topped with marshmallows, pineapple bits, crushed nuts, and cherries. Can you think of any other fun toppings to use??
