Brain Boost!

Is your brain’s battery running low? Do you wish that you could charge it like you can charge a cellphone?

Many of you are probably in your last few weeks of school before summer vacation. Sometimes after a long school year it is hard to stay focused on the final projects and tests. Today we’re going to learn a few tips on how to give the brain a boost!

brain-1295128_640Sweet treats or fried foods can be tasty but too much of these foods will slow you down.

Boost your brain’s power by eating foods that will make it strong! Here are foods that will make your brain strong:

  • Get your greens!
    • Broccoli, cabbage, spinach and other dark leafy greens can help your memory.
  • B-B-Berries!
    • Blackberries, cherries, and blueberries are packed with nutrients that improve your brain’s health – they’re also delicious.
  • Go nutty!
    • Nuts are good for your heart, as well as your brain. Walnuts, specifically,  are good at improving brain function – plus, they kind of look like a brain.
  • Omega-3 fats!
    • Have you ever learned about omega-3 fats? They’re a fat you can get from eating fish. The fun video below explains why your brain loves omega-3s!

While you’re finishing up school try to remember to incorporate these foods – your brain will thank you! Eating these foods often will help you have good health your whole life, not just when you’re studying for tests.

The recipes below all incorporate some of these brainy foods – try them out 🙂
