Remember how we were talking about oats earlier? Well get ready to get those oats in a very simple but VERY delicious recipe, I like to call energy balls!
These little treats are great to have in the freezer for busy days when you need to grab a quick snack that is healthy and filling. Grab one after school, or throw a couple in a bag for an energizing pre and post workout snack at practice!
All you will need is natural peanut butter (crunchy works best for this recipe), a little honey, semi sweet chocolate chips, oats, and your favorite add-ins.
The steps are simple my friends. First, add everything to a bowl:
Mix:
Put aluminum foil over a baking sheet. Roll peanut butter mix into balls and place on tray. Put tray in freezer for several hours (or overnight)
After they freeze, feel free to throw them in a Ziploc bag and put back into the freezer. Freezing them separately before putting them together will prevent them from melting together.
Bon Appetite!
Try getting creative with your energy balls and mix in some of my favorite add-ins:
- Coconut
- Sunflower Seeds
- Flax/ Chia (these are fairly expensive, so it might be best to try them when they are on a big sale)
- Chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans, etc.)
- Mashed Banana (add extra oatmeal with banana so its not too sticky)
- Dried fruit
- Cereal flakes
Happy Creating!
